Experiences Of My First Affiliate Partner Program

It is funny. The first affiliate partner program is like your first girl friend. You remember that for ever. I hope my experiences in this article will help other starters to good start.

I wrote this article, when I remembered the lonelyness during the first days of my internet marketing career.

1. Why I started?

Maybe the strongest impact came from the fact, that the internet in general was so interested, because it offers so huge potential for many kind of businesses and knowledge.

Because I have a branded goods marketing and ad agency background, I saw the internet and especially affiliate partner program marketing a challence. I decided to reach my targets online.

Other reasons were low investments needed and a possibility to run internet business from home whenever I had time and energy.

And, of courese, I had a tiny feeling like those during the great gold rush had.

2. How I picked what to start?

I thought rationally. I had no online experience, so I picked a follow the leader strategy. It would have been stupid to start from scratch and study all those tricks to succeed. And to make all expencive errors.

But how I found the leaders to follow? I visited numerous forums reading hundreds of posts and I got many names of authorities and appreciated affiliate partner programs.

3. Why I chose the affiliate partner program, I chose?

It fullfilled the criterias above and I was totally convinced of their professionalism, after I saw their huge amount of promotional information, training lessons, forum help and quality ad material. No doubt, these guys are experts.

4. How I started to promote?

First of all, I avoided to spend a lot of money and concentrated into free traffic exchanges. But mostly I spend my time studying how to run affiliate partner program, mostly at my forum. When I got my first affiliate, I was totally enthusiastic.

5. What were my biggest errors?

Maybe I should have started by reading more forum posts, ebooks etc. Asking more questions from experienced marketers. But I was too eager to start real marketing.

I should also team with more internet marketers right in the beginning. And to try to find out good keywords for my articles, website and PPC promotions. Keywords are my markets, but in the beginning I had no idea, how important they can be.

6. How much money I spent during the first months?

Maybe $ 100 per month, mostly for program fees. I did not calculate very carefully but kept in mind that costs must be kept low. To start running an affiliate partner program is mostly a learning process.

7. How long did it take to become profitable?

Well, it took about six months. When I had learnt enough, I became profitable. It is funny how difficult it is in the beginning, but when you learn and the downline starts to grow, how fast the business grows.

8. How is my business going nowadays?

I love my affiliate partner programs more day after day. It is so nice to find out that my promotions work and new affiliates join regularly. That is a real happiness.
