First I thought Twitter marketing is impossible. Then I thought I could use it for building contacts, so in a way as a kind of a start for my real Twitter marketing actions.
When I open Twitter, there is a headline asking: ” What are you doing?”. I think the whole idea of Twitter marketing is in that sentence.
So it is very ”real time medium”, for quick and short announcements. Right? Maybe.
When I thought marketing on Twitter more, I devided Twitter - system into two parts:
1. First I Have To Build The Contacts.
When I wrote update ( which I do a couple of times per week ) people started to ”follow” me and I could accept them if I wanted. This is how I can build a list of people, who are interested about the same things as I am, about the affiliate marketing.
When I have done this long enough, I will have a big list of people, who follow my Twitter marketing actions in real time. This is important: in real time.
2. But How Can I Utilize These Contacts – And For What?
I thought quite a lot about the nature of Twitter. It`s quick, messages are short ( 140 max ) and people use Twitter in a very stressed state of the mind.
So the way to utilize it, so I thought, is to release there something with an idea: ”This is new, take it NOW!” ( or you are without it forever ).
I dont`think, I can build my brand ( image ) with Twitter, because it is a microblogging tool and does not allow deep content. I have better ways for this like article writing, blogging, email marketing, blog comments and my website.
So it is a news type of a medium ( for me ).
Okay, but how can I use it or should I skip it from my marketing strategy?
Well, I found that actually it is very easy to use. When I write an article, my article submission service is connected with Twitter, like blog`s RSS, but two-way, and I can write a short message on Twitter, what is the promise of my new article. I imagine that it interests some people.
Somehow, the list of people at my Twitter account is similar to my optin email list with the difference that my email messages are much longer.
So I accept that Twitter is for short announcements, like: new article released, new free ebook available, new contest on my blog, or interesting new blog-link about affiliate marketing etc.
Is my opinion about Twitter all too narrow? Am I unable to see all the chances it includes? Write your comments, they are really welcome. Thanks!
